Welcome Back!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year.

I plan to serve this wonderful community with ambition, pride and commitment in order to ensure a quality Catholic education for your child(ren). It is my belief that every person has the ability to demonstrate respect and to make a positive difference in the school and its wider environment. Together with students and staff, I will continue to build upon the strong home-school-parish partnership and foster high expectations for student achievement and well-being.

A goal of mine will be to help build a resilient and confident child.

As Pope Francis, said,

“If we start without confidence, we have already lost half the battle and we bury our talents.”

I look forward to interacting with all of the children and families this year especially those who are new to our school. I am excited to work together with you to enhance your child’s educational experiences.

Attached is a full copy of our school time table for your reference.
Our school day starts at 9:15 and ends at 3:35.
Please ensure that your child arrives to school on time so that they can start the day of properly. Any student that arrives late must enter through the front door and check in at the office for an admittance slip. Thank you in advance for your assistance and support.

Welcome to St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School! Please check out our website and become more familiar with our school community.

St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School is located on Barton Street in the extreme east end of the city of Hamilton in the area known as Winona - home of the famous "Winona Peach Festival". The Winona community has grown from a small rural community that has experienced much growth. We will continue to be a proud feeder school to Cardinal Newman Catholic Secondary School in Stoney Creek.
St. Gabriel School is a proud member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish community. The school enjoys a wonderful relationship with the church and pastor Father Bill Trusz. With the partnership of the church and parents, our goal is to help students grow both academically and spiritually and together with parents, church and school we strive for excellence in all areas. We are thankful for the strong support of the Catholic School Council which helps us reach our goals. We welcome all parents to take the opportunity to participate in the Catholic School Council in any way possible as together we can build a new school community.

Our school motto is “Celebrating Faith, Family and Learning.” The St. Gabriel staff will be working hard to identify priorities in the various areas of the school so that we can set and meet high standards and help students reach their fullest potential. We all look forward to the challenge ahead and know that together we can have a tremendous impact on our students’ growth and development.
